Gun Buster?

After many years of watching crazy space animes, Ive met my match. Honestly what's up with Gunbuster, I have no idea how to even begin to review it, in fact I dont think any human could. You'd need to get one of those giant space monsters that somehow use the sun as a birthpplace to review this. Seriously, the last episode of Evangelion made more sense than this anime. Maybe if you gave me 12000 years to think of a way to explain this thing, I might be able to get a rough outline together. I kid you not, Fooly Cooly had a more coherent story and plot than this did. In fact so did evanelion. Gainax are masters at condencing story, but this is just ridiculous, where in God's name did Noriko find out about Gunbuster in like episode 3 or 4? When did half the story line occur? Why does she care so much about "Smisu"? Can anyone answer any questions relating to this anime, because I sure can't. Its probabaly all related and explained in Gunbuster 2, but do i even want to try to comprehend the explanations they'll give? That ll being said it was a good anime and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to see classic Gainax at work. But it's stll one of the craziest things I've ever watched. And that's saying something

"The last episode of Evangelion made more sense than this anime"? Now that's crazy. ;)

Anyway in answer to your questions:

- I think she finds out about Gunbuster in episode 4 when she undergoes her covert training.

- She liked Smith because he was the only one who was nice to her when Kazumi (aka One-sama) was totally ignoring her. Plus she feels guilty for his death because she wasn't good enough to help him.

- You may have been confused by the time-differentiation parts. Basically, whenever Noriko would travel out into space, she would be travelling at the speed of light. Time passes more slowly when you are going at light speed, so even though Noriko may have only been gone for 10 minutes, when she returned home 6 months may have passed on earth. That's why, at the very end of the show, by time they get back to earth, 12,000 years have passed and they are so surprised to see "Welcome Home".

Gunbuster 2 doesn't explain anything about the original series. It just adds to the story by showing some of the stuff that has happened in the 12,000 years that Noriko and Kazumi are gone.

Hope that helps.

Oh Bob, if only you could understand the subtelties of our english language perhaps you'd come to know sarcasm. lol. No but it made sense, I just have fun ranting about how much sense it really didn't make in terms of substance and plot. You Otakus and your incesant need to explain anime to us n00bs(thats 3rd generation geek speak). Thank you for your explanation, but now I have to get a watching Gunbuster 2 finish Trinity Blood, right after I finish AP tests.
